MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR OF GOVERNORS

Welcome to the Governing Body of Applied Educational Solutions.

Our Governing Body works in close partnership with the Headteacher and staff to further develop and enhance the quality of education at AES. The main aim of our Governing Body is to promote high standards and to help the school provide the best possible education for all its students.

The Governing Body is responsible for the long-term development of the school, rather than the day-to-day decisions and management, which is the responsibility of the Headteacher. The Governing Body has an active interest in all aspects of the school from the curriculum being taught to health and safety compliance. Its job is to also ensure that the school is showing due regard for the advice, recommendations and policies in respect of Ofsted and the LEA. This is so that both students and staff can thrive in a positive learning environment.

Although the Governing Body supports the school, it is prepared to ask challenging questions of the Headteacher and staff objectively. As well as attending meetings the Governing Body visit the school regularly and participate and join in school events.

As well as being Chair of Governors, I am also the Lead Governor for Safeguarding. This means that I liaise closely with the school on all aspects of safeguarding and child protection. My role is to check that all policies and information are up to date; meet with the DSL once a half term; receive a written safeguarding report from the Headteacher; and ensure the school adheres to the Keeping Children Safe In Education document published by the Department for Education. Safeguarding is paramount and everyone's responsibility!

Applied Educational Solutions is a valuable resource in the borough of Enfield and we look forward to seeing it develop and progress further.
